The internet provides access to a vast amount of health-related information, but not all information is drawn by reputable or fact based sources. Whether it is about physical or mental health, rare conditions, genetics, special needs, nutrition, or alternative medicine, Fact Based Health Information needs to come from accredited and/or qualified healthcare professionals. · Customer – who’s the character/protagonist of the story? The character/protagonist of the story is an young adult who has been having bad headaches and other symptoms in the last few days. She surfs through the internet to find out that possible causes could range from bad flu to brain tumor. She does not know what sources to trust and what information is accurate, so she panics thinking the worst. One of the sites is selling supplements, another makes excessive product claims and yet another offers treatment plans. · Customer insights --- what customer motivations set the plot in motion? The customer wants to distinguish between helpful, accurate, fact based AND false, misleading online information. · Problem definition – what obstacle does the character need to overcome? The challenge is what sources to trust and what sources to avoid as there are quite a lot of web sites offering health-related information. · Value proposition – what does your idea do for the character to help overcome his or her problem? Our site would be easy to find, follow and read. · How is the value proposition delivered – what specifically does your idea do that lets the character overcome his or her problem? Customer will be able to see all the reliable sources and connect with accredited healthcare professionals. The information will be evidence based and up to date. · Positioning – what is the context for the story (does anyone else provide a similar solution and if so how is this solution different)? There are some web sites that assist people in identifying the accurate sources (e.g., nccih.nih.gov and cdc.gov). However, when someone is looking for symptoms, those sites do not come up. You need to specifically ask for “fact based” health-related information to come across the site but most people do not search that way. The goal is that our web site comes up during health-related search. · Attributes/Personality – what is the tone or voice of your story? Helpful. We aim at helping the general public find evidence based online health related information. Hugo Pelland
